Gustav-Stresemann-Institut e.V. (GSI)

The modern meeting and conference center in the heart of the former government district in Bonn has become one of the central locations for political discourse in recent years. A center for education and culture, for discussions and encounters - for our own events, for cooperation and guest conferences. As a place for debate, the GSI offers 32 conference and seminar rooms for up to 400 people on 2,000 square meters - equipped with the latest professional conference technology.

HOW TO GET TO BONN

Cologne/Bonn (CGN)

The Airport Cologne/Bonn (CGN) is located only 20 km outside of Bonn and is served by many national and international airlines. Visit the internet page of Cologne Bonn Airport for connections and arrival assistance.


From Cologne/Bonn Airport to Bonn Main Station

By Taxi or Uber

25 min, ca. 60 - 100€


By BUS SB60 (Airport express)

30 min, 10 - 11 €

The Airport Express bus (line SB60) operates every 30 minutes on weekdays between Bonn city (bus station at the central train station) and the airport. The ticket can be bought inside the Bus or from the vending machine at the bus station close to the central train station.

By Train and Tram

40 - 50 min

Train to Bonn/Beuel (RE 8 direction to “Koblenz Hbf” from platform 4, every 60 min). From there change to tram stop A -H1 (line 62 to direction “Dottendorf”, every 10 to 15 min). Get off and change at Main Station (Hauptbahnhof).

Düsseldorf (DUS)

The international Airport Düsseldorf (DUS) is about 90 km north of Bonn but well connected by train.From Düsseldorf Airport to Bonn Central Station: 1 h by train (RE 5 directione to “Koblenz Hbf” every 60 min), ca. 25€
Alternatively take 5-10 min by any train to Düsseldorf Hbf (every few minutes), and from there to Bonn by IC or ICE (45 min).

Frankfurt


Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is about 160 km south of Bonn, and also very well connected by train.

From Frankfurt am Main Airport Fernbahnhof to Bonn Central Station:

About 105 min by direct train (e.g. ICE to “Hamburg, every 120 min, ca. 60 €). It is also a beautiful ride along the Rhine river. For best views take a seat on the right site in the direction of the train.

Alternatively take a 40 min high-speed train ICE to Siegburg/Bonn (runs every 60 min, ca 100€). This train/leg might be included in the flight ticket if you have booked a connecting flight to cologne (QKL). From Siegburg/Bonn take a taxi, (20min, ca. 40€) or the subway (line 66 to“Ramersdorf” or “Bad Honnef”), every 10 to 15 min, takes 25 min, ca. 6€ if not included in your train ticket.

Check the Deutsche Bahn for details on train connections from Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbf. You can buy train tickets from Frankfurt in combination with the airline ticket (only with some airlines like Lufthansa), or online at Deutsche Bahn, or at the ticket machines and the ticket office at Frankfurt airport (open: Mo.-Fr., 07:00-21:00 Sa.-Sa., 08:00-18:00 So.-So., 07:00-21:00).

Trains run regularly to Bonn (Bonn Hbf) from all major German cities and international hubs such as Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt (connected by TGV), Basel, Amsterdam, or Cologne (connected by Thalys or Eurostar via Brussels).

If you are coming from the South you may also consider to search for fast connections to Siegburg/Bonn and change to taxi or tram (see above).

ACCOMODATION

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at special rates (98€/night) in the venue hotel. Reservations for these rates can be made until 05.05.2025 during registration.

However, you have to arrange the payment yourself upon departure! 

If you are looking for alternative accommodation, please consider that due to other international events and fairs in nearby Cologne and Düsseldorf, hotels in Bonn might be fully booked in summer. We advise you to make early reservations.

CONFERENCE DINNER

Dinner Cruise on the MS Moby Dick

The restaurant boat Moby Dick was built in reminiscens of a white whale that in 1966 went astray and moved up the Rhine till Bonn. Since 1976 the boat is used in regular Rhine cruises and as an event location. The boat trip will take us along the former governmental residences and into more narrow parts of the Rhine valley. The open deck will offer panoramic views on the surroundings, and we will also have these views in the dining area with the large windows all around the boat.
